Warranty
Welcome to Sivien Design Collective!
Introduction
A two-year warranty on a furniture product provides customers with meaningful assurance that their investment is protected and that the piece has been crafted to a high standard of durability, stability and performance. In the furniture industry, a warranty is more than just a formality. It is a declaration of confidence from the maker, indicating that the materials, construction methods and finishing processes have been selected and executed with care. When a company commits to supporting its product for two full years, it signals that the furniture has passed internal quality checks, has been engineered for long-term use, and is expected to perform reliably under normal residential conditions.
What is covered?
This type of warranty typically covers structural integrity, such as the strength of frames, joints and internal support systems. Whether the piece is a sofa, chair, dining table or storage unit, the core components must remain stable and functional throughout the warranty period. If a frame cracks, a joint loosens prematurely or an internal mechanism fails under normal use, the warranty ensures the issue will be repaired or replaced at no additional cost to the customer. This protection is especially important for custom-crafted or premium pieces, where the design and construction rely heavily on artisan techniques and precise material selection.
Craftsmanship-related defects
A two-year warranty may also include coverage for craftsmanship-related defects. These can involve issues in upholstery, stitching, finishing, hardware installation or the application of surface treatments such as stains, oils or protective coatings. Because handcrafted and small-batch furniture often features highly detailed work, customers benefit from knowing that any unexpected flaws will be addressed promptly and professionally. The warranty gives both the designer and the customer a framework for accountability and ensures the furniture performs not only structurally but aesthetically as intended.
What is not covered?
While a two-year warranty generally does not cover wear and tear, misuse, environmental damage or changes in natural materials, it does establish clear expectations for responsible ownership. Customers are encouraged to follow care guidelines such as proper cleaning, protection from direct sunlight, humidity control and appropriate placement in the home. When these conditions are met, the warranty stands as a partnership between maker and owner, supporting the longevity of the piece.
Limitations and disclaimer
The two-year warranty applies exclusively to defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use. This warranty does not cover damage resulting from misuse, improper handling, accidents, negligence, alterations, commercial use, or any repairs performed by unauthorised parties. Natural variations in timber, leather, fabric or other organic materials are not considered defects, as these characteristics are inherent to the product’s nature and are expected to evolve over time. Changes in colour, grain pattern, texture, or the appearance of natural marks are not covered.
This warranty does not include normal wear and tear, including but not limited to softening of cushions, stretching of upholstery, minor surface scratches, fabric pilling, or finish changes caused by environmental factors such as sunlight, humidity, temperature fluctuations or improper cleaning products. Damage caused by incorrect installation, inappropriate placement, or failure to follow the provided care and maintenance instructions is excluded. The warranty covers the original purchaser only and is non-transferable. Manufacturer liability is strictly limited to repair or replacement of the affected component or product, at the sole discretion of the manufacturer. Refunds, consequential damages, loss of use, or any additional costs incurred by the owner are not included under this warranty. Availability of materials or finishes for repairs cannot be guaranteed, and reasonable alternatives may be provided where necessary. This warranty represents the full extent of coverage offered and supersedes any verbal assurances or previous statements. All claims must be submitted with proof of purchase and supporting documentation for assessment.
